TTFN

I was going to open with something light- making a joke about Harry Houdini … but I am experiencing a rare and peaceful moment so I want to run with it.
In my head I have written this post a hundred times and the longer I waited the harder and harder it became to log into my blog and write something. I want to just briefly say that I am fine, nothing drastic has happened and I am in good health and spirits. The reason for my absence is simple… what once was a passion simply isn’t any longer. Finally letting myself take a break from blogging was emotional but in the end all I felt was relief. I think one of the great things about having projects is they can take you to many different places and mold you into the person you want to be. Sometimes these projects can run their course and you may realize that its time to move on. The last several months I have been hunkering down and deciding where I’d like my time to be allocated and it's no longer on this platform. I am not saying that I may wake up one morning and flip open my computer to write you a note or share something lovely… but I’m not asking you to hang around and wait with bated breath, that wouldn’t be fair. Yes, I realize I may be saying so-long to great readers, but my original purpose of this blog was not to have traffic, sponsors or a freelance career as a blogger (I am also not condemning that for others, it just doesn’t fit in my life right now). I have really enjoyed my time with you all. To thank you for your encouragement almost seems too simple, you made a shy, semi-socially awkward girl shine post after post and I can only wish other bloggers the same loving experience you have granted me. Please keep in touch.
Til’ we meet again.

My One and Only Resolution

I've never been very big on New Year's Resolutions, however I've always been very goal oriented year around, a trait I'm pretty proud of. This year I decided to change it up a bit and make a concrete resolution: FOCUS ON WHAT'S IMPORTANT. It seems easy enough right? I hope so! I spent the last several days prioritizing my obligations, hobbies and buisness and feel as if I have a clear grasp of the projects etc that need the most attention (and it all very exciting). I'll keep you posted about how all of this goes! Have a great weekend, hopefully I'll see you at Brunch tomorrow!

Room Show Stoppers: The Bar Cart

There is something really magical about the old fashion bar carts from the 60's that have made a comeback over the last several years. We have a antique wooden bar the Blue's Father brought back from China years ago, so I thought I'd share the staples we stock our bar with when we have guest over... let me know if I'm leaving any essential out.
  1. Fresh flowers (usually something big and bright makes the bar feel inviting).
  2. A decanter our favorite drink.
  3. Variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic bottles, to offer different drink options.
  4. A small bowl of ice.
  5. At least two tumblers on top, and extra glassware of different sizes on bottom.
  6. Festive cocktail napkins.
  7. Small arrangement of books (I prefer vintage books, since it matches the vibe of the chart we have) to create a balance of height and variety with the other items on the cart.
  8. Stowed away below in the cart I have a stack of small plates of appetizers we might serve, a old deck of cards, and some back up bottles of booze.

Wednesday Word Play: Chris Piascik

Yesterday we had the pleasure of stumbling on Chris Piascik's on his kickstrarter page, where he is raising funds to self publish his book and we fell in love! Take some time to go click thru some of his drawings and enjoy :)
